Summation CT are used to add the currents flowing in two or more feeders so that a single meter may be used to totalise the overall current flow. Generally is necessary to ensure that the primary feeders are rated at the same value i.e. 200A and 200A etc. although summation CT's with unequal primaries are available from us to special order.

The resulting output from a 200+200/5A summation current transformer would be in proportion to that in the primary feeders. If the two feeders were at full load of 200A each then the output from the summation CT would be 5A. If one were at full load and the other was at 0A - the output from the summation CT would be 2.5A
